Rhythm Afrique is a radio program featuring African music which airs every Friday night on KUSP-FM. You can hear everything from traditional sounds of indigenous tribal music to 60’s West African Highlife, to AfroBeat, to Soukous, to Mbaqanga, Juju, Mballax, Zouk…and much more.

The show started about 27 years ago and originally aired from midnight to 3 AM as The Vinyl Jungle (when the majority of recordings were vinyl). Popularity of African music has increased throughout the years along with the availability and diversity of styles.

Your alternate hosts Raf and Mikey have been DJ’s at KUSP almost from the station’s inception. KUSP is a listener-supported, non-commercial radio station on the central coast of California, streaming live 24/7. Our fans range from the Big Sur wilderness to the high-tech hangouts of Silicon Valley. We welcome you to tune in and enjoy the inspirational music Africa has to offer.
